Every shift creates winners.

The business world is changing faster than at any point in our careers. Most leaders already sense it. What they lack is a clear answer to what it means for their business.

We see two kinds of companies. Some haven’t yet stepped back to ask an honest question: what does an AI world mean for us? Others have decided to embrace AI, but lack the shared vision, executive alignment, or know-how to make it real. They buy the tools and hand out licenses, then stall on adoption, governance, and changing how people actually work.

Stedmont was founded to help both. We help leaders take an honest look at where they stand, align on what has to change, and stay until the results show up. AI won’t make every business obsolete. It will reward the ones that decide deliberately how to use it and where to reposition, and we help our clients come out stronger.

Why Stedmont

What's in a name? Ours joins two old words: sted, a firm and steady place, and mont, a mountain. Together they describe what we intend to be for every client: something solid to build on, and still there when the work gets hard.

Led by an operator.

Phil Reese founded Stedmont to close a gap he kept seeing in companies and their leaders: they know the world is changing fast, but not what to do about it.

Phil Reese

Phil began his career as a software developer at a startup, where he rose to Technology Director. He has spent 15 years leading people, operations, and transformation. Most recently, as Vice President of Transformation, Enterprise AI at The Craneware Group, he led the company’s strategy to become an AI-first organization in the heavily regulated healthcare data industry. When the work began, fewer than a quarter of employees had ever used AI at work. A year later, 93 percent used it every week, and the time from product idea to launch fell from twelve months to under three.

Earlier, as Vice President of Customer Operations, Phil set a goal his own team considered out of reach: cut the average age of customer cases in half within a year. The team delivered a month early and reached its highest customer satisfaction scores in seven years.

Phil launched his first business from his college dorm room and has built several since. That experience shapes how Stedmont works: decide quickly, learn from what doesn’t work, and keep the discipline that lasting results require. He is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner and believes the people side of change is the greatest indicator of whether any strategy succeeds.

What we stand for.

  • Steady when it matters.

When markets shift and plans get tested, we stay calm, keep our commitments, and keep the work moving. Clients should feel more certain because we’re in the room.

  • Integrity before revenue.

We recommend what serves the client, even when it means less work for us. If an engagement isn’t the right answer, we’ll say so.

  • People make change real.

Strategy and technology only matter once people adopt them. We treat the human side of change as the main work, not an afterthought.

  • Urgency with discipline.

We move fast, decide with the facts we have, and adjust as we learn, without cutting the corners that regulated and established businesses can’t afford to cut.

  • Ambitious goals, honestly measured.

We set targets that stretch, then report progress plainly, including when it falls short.

Let’s talk about what’s next.

The first conversation is about your business, not our pitch.
